Natasha Kitty Kat – Katt Eye, Bangs & Disco

The disco force is strong with this one!

We’re super thrilled to welcome the skills of Natasha Kitty Katt to the Paper Disco fold with her ‘Katt Eye, Bangs & Disco E.P.’

‘She’s Cruel’ kicks off the party and its full on main room disco house with a heavy dose of funk, by way of some serious slap bass. Add disco stabs, rolling toms, soaring strings plus that all important cowbell for added jack and its a gold-plated floor rocker.

Previously only available on self released vinyl, ‘Twisted Katt’ sees Ms Kitty join forces with the Twisted Soul Collective. The result is a low slung funker that sweeps and swoops with a background stomp that will alert the crowd that its time to get busy.

Trash The Wax, Volume 7 has been let into the wild!

Trash The Wax # 7 has arrived freshly minted and ready to rock.

We welcome back some familiar wax trashers and Paper family members such as Bill Brewster, Daco, From Beyond and Kooky & Damoon as well as our good friends Yam Who and Jaegerossa. There are also recent entrants Andy Buchan & James Greenwood plus some new blood to the fold by way of Christoph & Danny Russell, Studebaker Hawk, Setembro, Brian SNR & R-04 who have all brought their A game to the latest collection.

Chopped up chunky disco edits sit alongside low slung Berlin basement bangers and pumped up late night party pingers. No moody, beige style beard strokers here, just straight up dancefloor.  Get it on Bandcamp for £8

Flash Atkins & Charlie Sinclair – That Hit (Part 2)

Following last year’s That Hit which rocked boxes worldwide, Flash and Charlie have teamed up again to cover one of the greatest club records of the 90s, Mood II Swing’s All Night Long.

It has the official stamp of approval with Lem Springsteen saying ‘its a fantastic production and vocal which literally blew me away. The original was such a cheap recording…so it’s a major compliment to hear such a classy new version!’

All Night Long is sublime deep garage with funked up beats, live bass, guitar and strings. Add Charlie’s gorgeous vocals and its one for the Southport Weekender heads, sitting perfectly with the likes of Kon, Kerri Chandler and Master at Work.

Flash’s dub hypnotises with a two note B-line, delayed EFX, sparse production and trippy vocals. Jazzy keys, looped guitars and make it a tracky, heads down shoe shuffler.

Oslo’s De Fantastiske To add their magic to the ingredients and the result is a lush eight minutes of synth chords, arps and 808 drums. It is reminiscent of Nu Groove, Marshall Jefferson and early Paper.

Finally, Norway’s Doc L Junior brings out the soul. Rhodes, synth bass, upfront congas, wonky vocals and its a late night jam that hits the sweet spot.

Leca – Soft on Space EP

Unsung hero and champion of deep Norwegian beats, the new EP from Bergen’s Leca is leftfield, wobbly and damn good.

Soft On Space harks back to the retro future of italo with space station samples and anologue synths over heavily reverbed house beats. It is the sound of optimism, found by looking up at the stars.

Den Fantastiske Fuzzn keeps things warm with a jumping keyboard, cowbell, vocal sample, disco strings, sweet leads and deep house know.

Finally Tur-Retur Venusberget takes it chug with wobbling B-lines, Rhodes, chorused toms and a jacking beat. Guaranteed to make you hurdygurdy!

Bill Brewster – Weirdly good.

Craig Bratley -Will play Soft On Space, thanks

Richard Seaborne – Preprandial EP

Paper favourite Richard Seaborne is back and on fire with two killer tracks.

Ken has pumped drums doing the heavy lifting while a minor piano progression works with the simple string line and the funk bass filters to full effect. Make no mistake, this is a stripped back bomb to cause scenes.

Susy takes a different route down to the depths of arpeggiated chug. Back in the day acid bass, attacking distorted stabs, italo pads and filtered samples push it deep in to hypnotic ALFOS territory. A track that will rock boxes from techno to house to disco and back.

Nutritious: “Always incredible music from Richard Seaborne. This rocks.”Robot 84:

Robot 84: “Nice deep vibes on this one, really feelin it…”

Stubb – Love Not Sex feat. Huw Costin & Rachel Foster

Love Not Sex is the second Stubb release from Paper Recordings’ Ben Davis (Flash Atkins) forthcoming on vinyl and digital.

The original is a melancholic slice of sunshine that draws inspiration from MOR and blue-eyed soul with a hefty dose of balearica. Acoustic guitars, Rhodes, live drums and strings plus Crazy P’s Tim Davis on bass provide the perfect cinematic backdrop for the plaintive vocals of Huw Costin (Torn Sail) and Rachel Foster.

Japanese edit hero Mori Ra delivers his first ever remix and its a doozy. Keeping the bones of the original track, he takes it in to dark psychedelic waters with the help of former_airline’s tripped out guitar. A spoken vocal tips it in to full Balearic wonkiness that will have the likes of DJ Harvey and Bjørn Torske getting hot under their disco beards.

Bergen’s Leca employs his trademark stripped back crisp production for a warm, dreamy remix. Steel guitar, clicks, whirrs and a Nordic playfulness make for a cosmic journey to the Northern Lights.

Minus The Majors – Noise On Repeat

Minus The Majors – Noise On Repeat

1. Black and White
2. Peanut Dust
3. Baker Lights
4.Ivasha Flow

Following their appearance on Trash The Wax 5, we are thrilled to release Minus The Majors’ debut 4 track EP ‘Noise On Repeat’.

The dubby & filtered opener Black & White is stripped back garage with plenty of subby, bouncing bass. Seven and a half minutes of proper house joy.

Peanut Dust is straight up sunshine grooves with bags of swing. Kerri Chandler style stabs across organ chords and an infectious high end pattern plus a breakbeat brings the groove.

Baker Lights starts with breaks then drops to a 4/4 as the twanging digi bass hits your head. Stabs, synths & samples bounce in all directions whilst ripping over the drums.

Ivasha Flew closes off the party and heads deep into the Latin tropics with tribal chants, drums and infectious synth lines. This is a proper late night Balearic beauty and will cause scenes if dropped at the right moment.

Nutritious – Indeed a really, really good EP. Some of the freshest new house around. Nicely done.

Fingerman – Ivasha Flew is lush! Great stuff :)

Mordisco – Musica de Baile EP

We are very pleased to welcome Granada’s finest, Mordisco to Paper Recordings with an EP that is ‘a tribute to the 90s sound’ and delivers in spades.

Musica de Baile has clean and crisp production, fizzing percussive arps and a krautrock synth that builds in wonderfulness as the track develops. Is it deep house, space disco or balearic? Who cares when its this good!

Nahual gets lush with Mordisco’s sparking production. Heavy on atmospherics, the bass drives things along as synth lines weave in and out and the dynamics build in to a trip for the head and feet.

Rave-enka – Full Fres EP

The more beardy half of De Fantastiske To is back with more of his floor filling tech-disco bombs straight from the heart of Oslo.

Full Fres leads the charge with a nagging riff, filtered pad and swinging drums. An acid arp brings the top end as the music works its hypnotic magic in to peaktime madness.

Regnværsdag keeps the analogue synth feel but takes a deeper route at the breaks with minor key pads and keyboard stylings for wonderful results.

Finally Teppefall takes a tribal drum loop and puts it through the Rave-enka disco machine. A driving bass pushes the dancers before a gorgeous chord change and arp bring the happy vibes.

Justin Robertson – “Massive…will hammer to bits”

Harri (Sub Club) – “Liking all of these….will play and support”

Fingerman – “Lovely warm vibes. Cheers!”

James Rod – 10/10

Anthony Mansfield – “Chunky jams for proper ravelording.”

Found Sounds – “Liking this”

Marma Boog – Cape Cod EP

Leeds’ Archie Presley is back on Paper Disco with his first EP following a storming debut on Trash The Wax # 5. There are three tracks of brilliantly produced, superior disco that is all set to soundtrack the summer. Ashley Beedle and Joey Negro best move over, there’s a new kid in town.

First up Cape Cod takes a horn riff and turns it round live instrumentation, congas and drums that pack a swing. Sweeps and dynamics make this a hit at any time of night and day; and hot damn, it’s catchy.

2 Chord Sangba takes things a bit more soulful with Rhodes and plenty of latin drums and percussion, making the most of them in the break. Then it’s back to business for late hands in the air shenanigans.

Finally Sour Indian drops the BPMs to dip it’s toes in the Med just in time for summer. Touches of acid, gorgeous chords and trippy atmospherics make it a stone cold, killer balearic chugger.
