Honey Dijon is a multi-talented artist who has made a name for herself in fashion, music, and activism. Her passion for DJing and clubbing has made her a respected figure in the house music scene. Showcasing her encyclopaedic knowledge of underground house music, Honey Dijon has curated a compilation album that presents a deep understanding of the genre; featuring forgotten classics, rare finds, and a new track from Dijon herself, the compilation is a global and multi-era journey through house music’s history.
Honey’s early years in her native Chicago were spent hanging out with buddies Derrick Carter and Mark Farina; desperate to start DJing, she was so broke she had to go to friends’ houses to record mixes. Moves to DC and New York took her nearer to her goal. Getting breaks via early supporters Tedd Patterson (whose recent remix of Kiko Navarro appears here) and Danny Tenaglia, taking any gig she could get, ‘I DJed weddings, I DJed opening restaurants, I DJed fashion events, I DJed anything, just learning how to be a DJ.’
We’re thrilled she has included one of our unsung catalogue classics featuring Taka Boom on a vox called Bessie by Blackpool band Shaboom.
