Paper Tag Team # 3

Third times a charm so they say, well we’re putting that to the test with our latest edition of the Paper Tag team mix series.

Originally dreamt up during lockdown as our alternative take to the DJ live stream but with multiple jocks playing 3 tracks each, where their first track was the previous DJ’s 3rd track & so on…

This latest selection starts off with one of the finest selectors to come on our radar in recent times Léna C. from her Hebden Bridge base with a globe trotting selection of vibes (as are present in her amazing Reform Radio shows)…

Following on from Léna is Mr super balearic Chris Coco who goes full namaste position with fetching stetson….he’s followed by the Lakeshouse crew coming right at us direct from rooftop in Norway (The Beatles got nothing on these guys!) with some live jamming over the top of their set.

Supernature Disco’s very own James Greenwood aka Semi Skimmed Edits joins the dots from Norway to Whalley Range and goes to town from his record/studio/ room before the mighty Muddy Feet closes things off with a hat trick of house laced bangers from her immaculate looking studio room (I wish mine was a tidy as that)..

Tuck in…more to come…hopefully a Balearic tag team en route, watch this space…

Diskobeistet – Birkelunden EP

Paper’s hook up with Norway continues to pay dividends with new artists who seem to knock it out the park with each release.

The latest is People Love Music’s Diskobeistet who tick all the boxes for grasping the sound of Paper’s heritage on a 4 track EP release for lovers of straight up “proper” house.

Birkelunden teams up tribally beats and smoking Rhodes with a Norwegian gentlemen’s vocal that we’re told is about going to the park, having a smoke and jumping up and down on a bouncy castle. So now you know.

The remix comes from another of our Norwegian friends, De Fantastiske To’s Ravi who gives it a bit of old school grit and jack before the bleepy bloppy style breakdown opens it up for the darkest dance floors. Is it techno? Is it house? Who cares!

Gammal Morro goes late night with a lazy hazy, sunset drenched vibe hooked around a Rhodes and nagging riff. Drive with the top down on this one and sport a pair of sockless espadrilles while you’re at it.

Nattergal is classic Paper all over, live sounding drums with snaps and claps in all the right places alongside a low slung bass line & chika chika guitar. Never straying far from the path, this is house for those that like it simple, straight forward and solid.
