Daco vs Quincy Jones – Free Download

The mighty Daco has taken Quincy Jones to the workshop and reworked him in to a smocking track of big band fire that has been mastered for you to have and to hold.
Keep the peace, it’s getting rocky out there!

Daco – Castillo EP

The man known to his Mum as Dave is back with another space themed EP and yet again it’s four tracks of immaculately produced tech-soul bombs. We are particularly chuffed to have Basil Clarke from legendary Manchester band Yargo delivering vocals on A Little More Volume which is a thumping guitar driven wallop of a tune that hits all the rave buttons without getting boxed in by any of them.

The live mix makes some subtle changes with drums that have a bit more groove, added synths and tweaked production but the result is the same : dancefloor devastation.

Skirting is tech-houser that wears a big acid house grin. Anchored round an acid B-line it burbles and squeaks it’s way over drums and congas that swing like Baloo going toe to toe with King Louie plus added tropicala. It will bring the sunshine to the dingiest clubs and the darkest of basements to outdoor festivals.

Finally Daco does his psychedelic prog disco thing on Saving Grace. Loose broken drums, octave jumping arps and some seriously deranged programming make this a trip to dealt with carefully but the rewards will be cosmic!

Mighty Mouse: “Love this EP, superb!”

Julian Sanza: “Saving Grace its the kind of tunes i love to play, sparse, electronic, funky/techno and rave vibes”

Vinny Villbass: “Nice nice nice!”

Sean Johnston: “Bonkers!”

Alkalino: “Raw, dirty… I like A Little More Volume Original +Live Mix are awesome! Saving Grace is also nice. thks!”

Somerville & Wilson: “Great EP from Daco! Really love the grinding indie feel of A Little More Volume. And the Cosmic Acid of Saving Grace! Both the standouts for us. Both shall be played in our sets!”

Gemini Brothers: “This is just an amazing EP! Outstanding sounds for any summer sets! Full support!”

Cosmic Capers Radio Show: “Saving Grace is quality, a trip for sure. A Little More Volume Original mix is a great piece of music, i’m really into it!”

BG Baarregaard – Aalone EP

Icelandic groove warrior B.G. Baarregaard is back on Paper Disco with an EP written after a move to the Norwegian town of Aal. Avoiding the use of samples it’s modern flipped out good time music for feet and floors wherever they may be.

AMR is modern disco with a popping NRG acid bass, funky keys, some Nile guitar and everything you need for a disco ball moment. Just when you think you’ve got it nailed the chord changes and off it goes again.

From the first bass and chords of Kulturhuset you know summer is well and truly on the way. If house music wore a grin then this would have one a mile wide. Stabbing chords, jumping drums and tuned percussion bring the sunshine.

Finally Mestringskatten is the deepest track of the package but still has that 80s synth sound. It’s in beach bar mode with plenty of twinkling and balearic sensibility ideal for sinking a Pina Colada on the Adriatic. So when you’re sat there thinking I know this this one, well this is it!

Yam Who? : “Bjorn providing the special goody bag!”

Sleazy McQueen : “My favorite Iceland-cum-Ål transplant is quite at home surrounded by icy soundscapes, bouncing, round bass and latin percussion. It’s a treat to hear him develop as an artist through the years.”

Fingerman: “Nice chuggy numbers. Kulturhuset stands out for me. First rate :)”

Get Down Edits: “Proper, This is cosmic disco at its best, top quality!”

Daco “Great EP with lots of bounce!”

ROBOT 84 : “Nice summer vibes!”

Chris Massey Music: “Mastringskattan sounding cooler than a Calippo Cucumber here….full support and will give this a few trial runs”

Cosmic Capers Radio Show : “Mestringskattens cosmic swirls gets the vote for me on this one, nice tune.”

Pete Herbert : “Love ’em”

Bad Barbie : Lovely laid back summer meanderings”

Neil Diablo : “Sexy ep! amr is my favorite”

Trash The Wax Vol. 1

Paper’s output has often lurked on the fringes of disco and now seemed as good a time as any to jump in with both feet, goggles and snorkel.

“Trash The Wax Vol. 1” hits the digital racks on April 3 featuring 16 original low slung, wigged out and floor heavy cuts from the great, the good, the tapped and the untapped.

Released on Paper Disco (a sub label of Paper Recordings) it follows hot on the heels of the 80s sugar rush that was Proviant Audio’s “Drift Days & Disco Nights” which found its way in to the boxes of Tensnake, Soul Clap, Horsemeat Disco and Danny Krivit as well as garnering a Norwegian Emmy nomination for the best album of 2013.

Artists on Volume 1 range from young 80s bucks like 2 Billion Beats who are pretenders to Crazy P’s crown, Manchester’s City Life DJ of the 2013 and Wet Play resident Ste Spandex, Paper’s ginger underground house assassin Richard Seaborne and Italian duo Gran Turismo.

More seasoned support comes from veterans like bootleg king Keep Schtum, Brighton’s builder of heavy grooves Fingerman, Australia’s disco vigilante Late Nite Tuff Guy and Manchester’s best kept secret Daco. And that’s just the ones we mentioned!

Running from sleazy late night jams to 80s synth and NRG to classic cut-ups, if this album didn’t make you want to go out and jump off a podium it’s time to get your hearing checked!

Flash Atkins – Collaborations # 2

Resident Paper munter and self soiler Flash Atkins is back with a second EP of collaborations. The first found favour with people like Danny Krivit, Bill Brewster, Crazy P and Moodymanc and was heard playing everywhere from The Warehouse Project to Croatian boat parties.

Flash?s first studio victim was young gun Chris Massey which resulted in a deep tribal house throbber that?s heavy on atmosphere as the first half builds around an arp, sub and subterranean percussion. For the drop the mood lightens with a Rhodes and 80s synth line as all the elements are re-introduced for maximum dancefloor dynamics.

Daco’s head was next on the Flash?s studio block and their track Vowerk is named after a breed of chicken. Fact. It’s a super-heavy slice of main room tech-house built around a distorted arped bass that summons up the spirit of John Ciafone and Mood II Swing.

Manchester veteran Neil Diablo didn’t know what he was getting in to and by the time he’d worked it out they were two tracks down. Nezulka is deep house at it’s finest and on a Hot Creations tip but without the whiff of sunglasses in nightclubs. Swinging drums and analogue bass keep it ticking over before the synths in the second half mellow things out to drag you out the K hole you may have been sliding in to.

The EP is rounded off with some 90s vibing house that?s got a bit of Balearic business going on. With samples firing off the track builds to the break where the organ does it’s sunset thing. But wait, is that a male vocal singing Hey Yeah as the drums drop? By golly it is and doesn’t it sound fine!

Moodymanc – Excellent vibrations from the most motley crew in dirty disco…

Stuart Knight (Toolroom) – NEZULKA is the one for me …dope !!!

Justin Harris (Freaks) – Sodium Original is really cool – nice EP.

Nathan Detroit – Love Massey. Love Diabo. Love this!

Nick Holder (DNH) – Nice and deep.

Harri – NIce work!

Nutritious – Vowerk!

Da Wiseguy – Nice pack of 4 steady builders….but Sodium kills them all!

Aldrin Zouk – Sodium is my fav cut.

Jonny Miller (Southport Weekender) – Flash Atkins, total loser so thank god someone else is on hand to help here. I love the bass edge on ‘Vowerk’, one for the shufflers at Southport maybe? The Neil Diablo collar cuts also worked very nicely, great EP!

Da Sunlounge – Sodium is very nice, will play this.

Dan J – Fully digging Vowerk, proper druggy business and looking forward to trying this out.

CP (Inkfolk) – Sounds like a Tribal records Eric Kupper outing…Nice.

Bootsy – The Neil Diablo collab Nezulka is my pick and love the vocal sample. But may I say the Daco track Vowerk doesn’t half kick eh? A close second!

Leri Ahel (Mutant Disco Radio Show) – Great EP, Vowerk is the one for me.

Ed Mahon (Cowbell Radio) – Loving everything about the Dirty Protest!

Dogan Aktay – I think the Neil Diablo ones stand a head above the other two but I like the overall coherence of the release.

Russell Politt – Got quality stamped right through this – brilliant EP.
