Paper Recommends : The Rock ‘n Roll Farmers


One of the great private presses, Donnie & Joe Emerson’s Dreamin’ Wild came out in 1979 and a re-release in 2014 took it from a diggers delight to the collections of the less vinyl obsessed. Made by two brothers after their Dad built them a studio on their farm in Washington State, it’s a dream of a record that is low-fi, naïve and utterly beguiling.
The ubiquitous ‘Baby’ has been covered by everybody from Ariel Pink to Hype Williams but it’s still the original that wins out.
