Oddio Factory – The Prophet Video

Sounds of a Parisian style are the flavour on this release from the duo known as Oddio Factory. If house music with a touch if the cinematic is your thing, then this one delivers in spades. The Prophet boasts full on throbbing low-end action alongside some serious John Carpenter style Arp work and pads in the breakdown. Sci-fi house and disco with a stop off at Baldelli’s Cosmic Club is where it’s at.

Paper DJ Tag Team # 2

The Paper DJ Tag Team #2 has landed.

3 tracks each, mixing into the previous DJs to create a non-stop, disco dancing & boogie enhancing alternative take on the live stream. Selectors this time round come in the form of Chris Massey with a few celeb pals who don’t move much, BB & Richie V from their very own Supernature Disco rave den then Anoraak drops the heat from his studio which will make you salivate over his synth collection! Homoelectric banger queen Gina Breeze lays it down from her loft studio with a UV tinge, Mix-Stress knows that all the best parties are held in the kitchen & drops bangers by the sink, we just about catch a few sights of Reeta & her red handbag whilst she mixes up a storm then Indigo Jung come at us live from their sauna which must be broke as they’ve got coats on. Finishing off the mighty Flash Atkins brings it home with a full on family dance off featuring friends from multiple boroughs.

La Guardia De La Luz – Resonate EP

La Guardia De La Luz is the brainchild of Mexican producer Santiago Rionda which he tells us was “created as a vehicle to explore metaphysical topics in a simple, primitive and emotional house sound”. This is his first EP and what a debut!

Resonate starts off raw, deep and moody with stringy synths and a trippy spoken word vocal. The swing takes on on a garage edge with a nod to Moodyman before breaking to a piano halfway to give it an NYC flavour.

La Luz Visible is a deep and trippy cut that builds steadily with a drone and minimal drums before the bass comes in at 2.30 and it shifts up a gear. As the track develops the droning synth grows with keys and analogue lead lines and the result is psychedelic house music at its best.

House Metafísico drops the BPMs and keeps the psychedelia but this time takes things in a more balearic direction. A constant synth line keeps building and filtering with percussion coming in and out plus tinkling keys. This isn’t instant dance music but house that weaves its hypnotic spell and rewards over the long listen.

Shane Johnson (Fish Go Deep) – Distinctive sound throughout the EP. Will definitely take a second listen to La Luz Visible.

Nathan Detroit – Resonate is the one for me.

Nelson Ramalho – Strong release.

Leon Sweet – Intelligent gear. I’m liking that a lot. Hard to pick a fave but House Metafisico gets the top slot.

PROVIANT AUDIO – SLUTTEN PA ALT

Proviant Audio – Slutten På Alt by Paper Recordings

‘Slutten På Alt’ is one of the highlights from Proviant Audio’s debut album ‘Real Loves Tastes Like This!’ and now gets the remix treatment.

The album is a rich mix of disco, funk, soul and house which has seen the 18 year old Norwegian receive broad critical acclaim as part of the new generation of Scandavian artists.

The release kicks off with the original (promo only) which is a journey through disco and ending up on a killer riff that sounds like it’s been stolen from a lost classic (it hasn’t, it’s all played live).

Ralph Myerz ‘Norwegian Kiss’ turns in a broken slice of soulful tech-disco. His mix moves from a soul groove to a brilliant slow-mo breakdown before lifting back into a tight house groove.

Next up, Leftside Wobble is at the controls and an artist probably best known for his superb re-edits in recent times. For his version of ‘Slutten På Alt’ he picks up the funk and runs with it, creating a dubby disco mix with plenty of bounce and leftfield soul.

Finally Paper Recordings own Flash Atkins takes things in a deeper direction fusing the best of house, techno and disco in to a late night, bottom heavy floor filler.

Roberto Rodriguez : Absolutely loving the Ralph Myerz and Leftside Wobble mixes! Will get lots of spins!

Jim Baron (Crazy P / Ron Basejam) : Good selection of mixes, like ’em all but think Flash Atkins just shades it.

Tim “Love” Lee : Love these guys!

Disco Outcasts (Manchester) : Jesus Christ!! The Flash Atkins Mix is a super bass heavy workout that will detonate massively! Also feeling Leftside Wobbles acid disco affair.

Benoit C : Cooooool EP

Neil Diablos : Realy like the Ralph Myers quirky remix but its the Flash Atkins mix doing it for me!

Yanick Labbé : Flash Atkins all the way!

Pete Herbert : Ralph Myerz! What a great remix… loved the RM stuff from years back.
