FRED EVERYTHING
I’m a massive fan of Paper since day one. I have all of those already but these will beat my home made vinyl rips I’m sure. Thanks to one of the best house labels that ever was.

MANUEL TUR
Great release, thanks for this! Paper used to be a favourite of pretty much every house DJ in my hometown of Essen back in the day. While some of my personal Paper favourites didn’t make it there are also some tracks I didn’t know at all!

RIPPERTON
What a great idea to bring out all these incredible pieces. I remember I played a lot of Da Kingue D’mazda, Bust A Bubble and the all the crazy P stuff. It was really an essential label and really based on quality!

DETROIT SWINDLE
This is a must have collection right here.

DJ ROCCA
WOW! What a collection of Wonderfull tracks!! Paper recordings is a MUST….super proud to have released on that label me too

ASHLEY BEEDLE
I think I put some music out on Paper! My memory has gone. A big salute to Ben Davis and an extraordinary label. 25 years more please!

DANNY KRIVIT
Only had a couple of these from back in the day, but love the ones I didn’t know,

BILL BREWSTER
Lots of good stuff here though there are others I would’ve preferred to see too. Hard call to make with that label.

JAMES TIEJ
What a collection! Been a massive fan for years, nice to have a compilation like this! Too many amazing cuts to single out!

Finding this is my inbox after a month of holiday puts a smile on my face :) Paper has been such a big part of my sound for the past 25 years and always brings the right vibe and energy to the floor. Great compilation of this stellar label, which is still going strong, respect!

HIFI SEAN
Paper gems here ….how can you not love this all in a handy package.

KELVIN ANDREWS
Too many killers to pick a favourite (or even two!) A fitting tribute for a Northern Powerhouse of a label. Fantastic release!

BILLY SCURRY
Absolute Aceness! What can be seen by each Album is the breadth of work, and GREAT work at that, put out by Paper. One (Crazy P) is like meeting old friends for a beer.. tracks you’ve known, played, loved over the years… Beautiful!
The other (Flash) is like finishing the beers, making the call, and going out out! Hitting the dancefloors with said friends and ending up in Barbs, on a beach or in a field or a bashment. And this is what Paper did.. Made you feel like you were part of the label/family.. you felt like they were releasing stuff for you and your mates because they knew what you were into, even before you did.
And the fact that it is still doing that now is a huge testament to the never ending search for great new music by the people/family behind the label. (we know who you are), and we thank you! BRAVO! and on to the next 25 yrs!!

STUART PATTERSON (FAITH/ THE DATE / MI SOUL RADIO)

Ah the glory days when Crazy had a penis and I used to get sent 12 inches in brown paper bags. Absolutely essential UK label.

HARRI JAMES HARRIGAN/ SUB CLUB
Lots to like here, got most on vinyl . Must get it all out!

EDDIE C

CHRIS TODD/ HOT TODDY/ CRAZY P

Kooky & Damoon Free DL

The debut EP from Kooky & Damoon dropped in July and soon found its way into sets at places like this years Electric Elephant Festival in Croatia as well as the basements of Manchester & beyond!

Here Kooky has tackled Loving Me Now and drops a dark n moody bassline to sit alongside the guitar twanging from the original…some pretty haunting chords land in the breakdown but still keep things on the right side of disco sounding (just a tad darker!).

Free DL!

Kooky & Damoon – The Kooky & Damoon EP

After appearing on Trash The Wax 2, Kooky & Damoon drop their debut EP for Paper Disco and what a big badass booty shaker it is!

Loving Me Now starts things off across a section of horns, guitars & rumbling bass that will make you slug back the last of your pina colada, jump in the Quattro and head on down to the Pink Flamingo club to command a spot on the dance floor. Sleaze disco from a forgotten cop show never sounded so ace!

Good For You takes things to stage 2 of the night and right from the off its a handful of veras and a serious wiggle to the full bodied twanging bassline, hooky vox and guitar that sounds like Nile Rogers in the zone.

Remix action comes from Paper’s long lost brother Neil Diablo who goes for a classic dub on Loving Me Now. It uses less of the vocal and giving the instrumental arrangement room to shine, makes this perfect for the jocks that prefer their disco spaced out.

Loving Me Now also gets a workout from new kid on the block Dan Wainwright who covers it in microdots & stewed mushrooms for a full on psych wig out complete with acid squelch, reverb & delay drenched whooshes & swooshes. There’s enough weirdness to make you ring deed poll and change your name to Rainbow.

Hot Toddy:
“Good For You is fav of the 2. Nice mid tempo warmer upper!”

DJ Rocca:
“Groovy modern disco indeed!”

Fingerman:
“Nice release. The slow burn of Good For You is the one for me here. Neil’s Dub is a bit tasty too.”

Tronik Youth:
“Dan Wainright mix for me…good stuff!”

Will Tramp:
“Love the EP. Will definitely be playing ‘Good for you’ & ‘Loving me now’ this weekend. That bass is so god damn funky!”

Somerville & Wilson:
“Funky spicy boogie disco :-)”

Robot 84:
“Nice EP, really diggin the two remixes by Neil and Dan. Full support on this one!”

80’s Child:
“Another fine release from the Paper crew, all tracks are wicked but Good For You stands out the most here, Very cool & funky!!”

Mezman – Le Deepend

We’re getting prepped & ready to leave the cold Winter nights behind us with these two cuts from Mezman.

Le Deepend filters into action as soon as you press play and much like its partner on this EP it’s got a warm & throbbing low end in spades. A simple loop is used to great effect with a subtle & cleverly used Aretha vocal to give it that little bit of extra disco dust.

Heatwave gets into action right from the off with a slap bass thats packs enough wobble to make Larry Graham proud. It’s classic jacked out disco percussion cracks in all the right places before we’re treated to a hell of a breakdown that builds before dropping right back in to the good stuff.

Both tracks are certified killers and pack a shallop when they’ve been dropping at Paper parties.

Chez Damier:
“I SIMPLY THINK ITS HOT! I would play both mixes”

Oliver $:
“Nice one will play it!”

Harri (Sub Club):
“Can use heatwave for sure!”

Jim Baron (Crazy P/Ron Basejam):
“staright in at the Deepend!”

Severino (Horse Meat Disco):
“YES PLEASE this is AWESOME!!!”

Stuart Knight (Toolroom):
“LE DEEPEND is the one for me”

Sleazy McQueen:
“Packs a whallop!”

Chris Massey:
“This is without a doubt absolute massive stuff! Solid disco licked house workout vibes that’ll sound boss on a big rig.”

Fingerman:
“Fantastic tracky disco gear. Both will get a rinsing :)”

Leon Sweet:
“Quality jams… i’m a Mezman fan. Just in time for Oslo too. All over it :)”

Somerville & Wilson:
“Great release on Paper Disco. Loving the loopy vibes of Heatwave. Support from Somerville & Wilson”

Badbarbie Beats (Kane Fm & Cruise FM):
“Good Time Vibes, Perky little groover x”

Wrighty (Soul Buggin’):
“funky as it comes, loving both these two”

Will TRAMP!:
“Great EP. Will be playing both tracks for sure”

Get Down Edits:
“Totally up our street :)”

80’s Child:
“Le Deepend rocking it and will get the most plays from me, great suff :)”

B.G.Baarregaard – Partysvenskenes Dans EP

Paper’s Scandinavian connection continues with this release from one of Oslo’s finest residents. Although hailing from Reykjavik, B.G Baarregaard now resides in in Norway’s capital and its influence is clearly stamped all over this brilliant EP.

Partysvenskenes Dans has the kind of warm ‘n wobbly happenings that we’ve come to know and love from the scandi disco output. Plenty of resonance & space with a hint of Inspector Norse mean this treads on the right side of camp & kitsch whilst managing to pack enough of a stomp to ensure it blows up a dance floor.

(Got Me) Runnin’ jumps on a plane and heads straight to the late 80’s / early 90’s Manchester club scene. Big piano stabs and a classic vocal make it a real late night jacked out affair with everything here from the glory years of clubbing.

Konur Go Karlar seems to take on board both its predecessors to deliver a cut that is drenched in cosmicness as well as a nod to classic UK house. Simple, down the middle & hooky there’s enough going on to please those that favour discos and late night dancing dens.

Sleazy McQueen – “BG’s work is marked by some of the finest production quality in the modern disco scene. Partysvenskenes Dans sounds like BG’s been drinking the Norwegian-Disco kool-aid!”

Nutritious – “Undeniably fantastical.”

Ruben & Ra – “Nice’n’disco!”

Get Down Edits – “Killer release guys”

Neil Scott – “Got some nice scando-med Todd Terje type vibes to this. Me likey!”

Ed Mahon (Cowbell Radio) – “More neat Nordic noise from Paper boys! All tracks will work…Runnin’ has already been added to the “keep the girls happy” folder!!”

Pablo & Shoey – Puttin’ Some Stank On It

After wowing us on Trash The Wax #1 with their edit “Raw Human Emotion” Pablo & Shoey, those boys from the emerald isle are back with a 3 track EP of the good stuff.

Kicking things off is the glitter ball encrusted “Funk It” that goes straight for the disco jugular. It’s got all the essential Studio 54 ingredients such as infectious handclaps, wah wah guitar, hooky piano loops, catchy vocals plus a spaced out breakdown where you can get lost in the smoke.

Down To The Bone exits the discotheque and heads into the early 80s Bronx streets. Grab the lino, strap on your hi-tops and prepare to bust a few windmills with this slice of edited hip hop/electro funkyness with its very large bassline and everything but the 808 kitchen sink. Check yourself before you wreck yourself….

Big Base finishes things off by being an almost hybrid of the previous two cuts…disco tinged percussion with a wacka wacka guitar lick throughout, body popping breakbeat and old school stabs to ensure one foot is stuck firmly in the street with the other spinning on the floor.

Perfect summer drenched offerings all to liven things up a bit!
